Based on the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) with Indonesia, two nurse candidates, Maria Brigita Febrianti (25) and Stephanie Nukman (25), were accepted in Oita Oka Hospital. On February 16^th, Hadama Tetsuo, as the President of Oita Oka Hospital, appointed two nurses from Indonesia during the morning assembly.

The two nurse candidates attended the morning assembly, and introduced themselves in front of approximately one hundred people. They said, "We want to be familiar with the environment quickly, and gain many great experiences here".

It is stated in the agreement that they need to pass the Nurse State Examination within three years upon arrival in Japan. If they cannot fulfill the agreement they will need to return to Indonesia. From 22^nd, they already started studying in order to pass the examination. The nurses in the hospital take turns to help them. From next week onwards, they will have practical experience to assist in Intensive-Care Unit (ICU).

Through the international cooperation, it was expected not only to supplement the health care providers, but with the presence of these two nurses they hope that it will create an environment whereby they all can learn from one another.

Comments:

It was really challenging to have to be able to pass the examination within 3 years. Not only they have to master difficult, scientific words written in Kanji, they also have to get used to the real practices in Japanese hospitals. I sincerely hope that they will be able to pass the examinations and fulfill their goals to become nurses in Japan.

The female figure skater, who acquired Silver Medal, Mao Asada, brightly answered the interview questions.

-Looking back to the Tournament:

I feel happy to be able to get Silver Medal, although I still feel regretful about my performance. Half of me feels happy and the other half feels regretful. But I think this Silver Medal will lead me to the next step, so I will focus on the next step and will do my best.

-A moment that left an impression in your heart:

Actually I feel sad as I was aiming for the Gold Medal, but I was happy as I received a Medal in the ceremony.

-What do you want to improve from now onwards?

I want to be a steady skater. I want to learn more and more types of jumps, and I can also insert the triple rotation. I want to properly practise other jumps.

-When Kim Youna professionally did the rotation..

I want to win over her. Her scores will still remain, and I cannot wait to beat that.

Comments:

I watched the Winter Olympics on television, and thought that Mao Asada and Kim Youna are both great figure skaters who have different disctinct characters. While Kim Youna appeared confident and elegant, Mao Asada appreared cute and adorable. I believe that Mao will be able to conquer Kim Youna if she develop her unique style and practises hard to perfect her difficult movements.

It became clear on March 5^th, that the former President of Fujitsu sent a letter of request to Fujitsu that his resignation in September last year be nullified. He claimed that he was "forced to quit the company because of a lie regarding him doing an inappropriate conduct". A temporary board of committee was formed, a third-party was asked to investigate this matter regarding the administrative problem of his resignation.

According to Fujitsu Public Relations Division said, "It is a fact that we received the letter of request from the former President. However, we cannot make any comment regarding the content. It is still being investigated".

Matsuka Michiyoshi held two posts concurrently as the company director and human resource manager. He explained that there was a request of resignation from Nozoe-san due to his illness.

According to Nozoe-san, he was summoned by the board members Matsuka and Akikusa to the meeting of Board of Directors. His relationship with the person whom he was doing business negotiations with was considered as inappropriate, and then with "It a top company does something like this, it will be delisted" being said in the meeting, he was forced to resign from Fujitsu.

Comments:

In profit-maximizing organizations, people are often faced with the issues of prioritizing profits or the right values as human beings. We will never know what is actually happening behind the scene, whether what is announced to public represents what actually happened.

"Yotsuba Market" is a community for parents who are raising physically-challenged children who made handicrafts and accessories in the free time while raising their children sold their products at Yotsuba Market on March 13rd and 14^th from 9.30am. It is the first time for them to have the market in a parking area. It would be cancelled due to rain.

Executive Committee Leader, Fujita Takako (37) = Oita City Ueno Minami= enrolled her eldest daughter to Hibari En, a facility for mentally-handicapped children in Beppu Development Medical Centre. Together with fellow parents whom she met in the kindergarten, she made handicrafts and put together with the others' products. They planned to open a market together.

About 100 items including bags made from scrapped cloths, preserved flowers, decorations, hand-made soaps, and silver crafts were sold at the market.

They also found the place to open the market from an acquaintance. Fujita, the leader, said, "There are some high-quality goods among the products that we made. I really want to open this market for the parents who have children".

Comments:

It was really nice to hear that housewives in Oita Prefecture are proactive to find ways to spend time productively, while they are fulfilling their responsibilities to take care of their children. If this activity is sustainable, it might result in economic growth in Oita Prefecture.

The Principal of Kokonoe Higashi Iida Junior High School, Hikuma Moichiro (60), gave a present for each of his 27 graduating students, face portraits of each student that he drew himself by hand. This year is his last year to be the principal after all these 5 years, since he will retire. During this year's graduation ceremony, he passed the present one by one to each of his students.

He painted the students's faces by pencil and watercolour on colour papers, and behind he wrote various farewell messages, such as "Don't forget to always feel grateful". Before giving the presents, he stood in front of them and said "Maybe the photos I drew for you are not really good and might not resemble you, but I drew these with all my heart. I will not read out your names, but if you think it is you please come forward". After that, he held out the photos one by one. Amidst the joyful shouts of students and parents who said "It looks like you! It's you!" the students went forward one by one to receive the present.

He has started working on the portraits since December last year. "While looking at their photos, I recall memories about them and drew", said the principal. After his retirement, he is going to draw a portrait for each of the school's current 57 students. "Finally, I want to conduct a class and pass it to them".

Comments:

The principal cares a lot about the students, as he patiently drew the faces of his students one by one. From this we can see that he appreciates each of his students and he wants them to know how much he cares for them. Nowadays, many people are too so overwhelmed with works and studies that they tend to forget to appreciate people in their life. It is good to start showing our appreciation to the people, before it is too late.

"It is my dream to be able to graduate together with everybody. It has come true!", said 15-year-old Jikumaru Ryotaro. He suffered from a serious disease which made his body to grow up ten times faster than normal people. He graduated on March 5^th, from Saikijyonan Junior High School in Saiki City.

According to his family, Jikumaru-kun collapse because of cerebral haemorrhage during the first year in Junior High School, and he was between life and death. But eventually, miraculously he could continue living. Although he could attend school for only some days, but there were a lot of memories of being with his classmates. In the graduation ceremony, his friends came to carry his wheelchair to the stage. Surrounded by 128 friends, he received the graduation certificate from Miyahara Ken Principal.

His dream from the beginning of his junior high school life is to be able to graduate together with his friends. All of his friends and teachers always watched over Jikumaru-Kun who always loved to make people around him laugh and smile. In the photos taken during sports competition, cultural festival, and excursion, Jikumaru-kun can be seen to be in the center of smiling people.

After the ceremony, while taking a souvenir photograph in the classroom, all of his classmates gave thank-you letter to Jikumaru-kun and his mother Yoshimoto-san, for always being positive and cheerful while overcoming difficulties.

The teacher who took charge of them for three years said, "What I have done for Ryotaro-kun was not to assist or back him up. His charm as a human being has fascinated and attracted people around him. I am not surprised that he could graduate together with the others!"

Principal Miyahara gave them a farewell message, "I want each of you to treasure your unique self as there is only one "you" in this world. I hope that each of you will find your goodness, have faith in yourself and continue to move forward".

Comments:

Despite suffering a lot from this rare disease, Jikumaru-kun and his mother always have a positive attitude towards life, which inspire the people around them to the same. Many a times, we tend to take what we have always had all along, and fail to remember to treasure what is important. The life of Jikumaru and his mother actually offered us a lesson to treasure small moments in life and to always spread happiness to other people.

Toyota Motor Corporation announced its employment plan for the year 2010 (the new employees will start working from April 2011). Because of the unclear future due to the critical condition, Toyota announced that they plan to hire 1,200 people.

The recruitments fell dramatically from 1,376 people. Every year depending on the condition and needs, the number of mid-career recruitments will vary, just like the recruitment after the economic bubble burst in the year 1994.

Toyota suffered in deficit, because of the large-scale recall problem (free recollection and repair of defect cars from all over the world), its sales is severely affected but that. Toyota cut its personal expenses; it aspires to quickly recover to its former self who had a lot of achievements. However, as the leading company in Japan, Toyota's current bad condition has made an impact on other companies as well, resulting in the difficult period for job-hunting.

In 2009, Toyota hired 143 new employees, concentrating on junior-college graduates and technical school graduates. Including university graduates, higher vocational school graduates and mid-career recruitments, Toyota hired 460 people which are less than the actual 516 people.

Recruitments from junior colleges, technical schools, and high schools were 500 people in average. Toyota will increase the recruitments for technology-savvy talents in Toyota Manufacturing Academy from year to year.

Comments:

It was indeed unfortunate that there was a defect in their products. However, human beings can never be perfect. Although it was surprising and disappointing to know that a big company's products were faulty, we should give them the chance to repair the things that they need to, and the chance for them to come back to the market. I believe this is just a normal cycle when a company experiences downfalls at times. The business will return to normal, and also the employment rate, since Toyota cares a lot about its employment condition.

This year, 45 students in the department of fashion design school in Hita Showa school years bring the curtain down on 23th near the school, preschool Minori (director Hiroshi Iwao Takayama), and showed her thesis play cloth. The last two graduates of the Department and the reorganization of the department five years ago came on Monday after-school and were working on making a role play for graduated seniors in an occasion of cloth years, it was completed too many to take over for charity to the appliqué and embroidery cloth instead of paper, "Chan red hood" and "Three Little Pigs" made.

Alpine director father just visited the zoo that served as the school's first principal. Kindergarten children from age zero to six years and also visit by around 151 people, the people said "it is made play cloth please come and enjoy!" and all the greetings.

They enjoyed the play portrayed that wore a face made of cloth as pigs. The production was later presented to the representatives of the kindergarten children at play with cloth fabric. One of the playing representatives, Kyoko Adachi (18) said, "I was nervous, but I could work and enjoy by everyone in the kindergarten refresh atmosphere" she said.

Comment: That is so cute to see the juniors do such great job for seniors with cloth playing, I wish I could do like that in my high school also, I think it would be great if they can provide more resources or materials for some decorations of the play it could attract more people and also make the students feel doing it as for others' happiness and laughters.

OISCA West Training Center (Fukuoka) for helping in the town Hita plays a young man who has agricultural training in foreign. April 1st to return to training after a year of organic farming "this experience should be originated in home country" and worked hard.

India has agreed to participate in a supervised agricultural, Cambodia, men and women in nine countries, including Fiji 13 people. Yoshida Tadashi's efforts to play in the sympatric Mt (62) last year at the Center, and was a visiting instructor at the edge of making that tea kettles and entrance.

Yoshida says the woodlands behind his home six stormy years at wind-fallen trees (6 hectares) started to play. Try to woodlands in Japan, cherry, maple, such as planting flowers and trees, mushrooms and cultivation of tea. And open to the public, are working to create opportunities to interact with urban residents.

This time of year is the season for the soil to make flowers bloom from early spring. Participants in his work clothes into the mountains, or wind-fallen trees and burning cedar gather quietly in the building and worked hard with many stairs of the boardwalk.

Comment: I think it is really good that they gave such good cooperating of protecting nature I wish that my country has this kind of enthusiasm for the surrounding environment. I also see some many plants and flower shops in my city, it really gives such lively world for me and nowadays there are so many choices for plants or flower lovers to create their own garden in a small limited area.

Beppu University Department of Nutritional Sciences students are learning and fermented foods, which help to work while studying in the place for sake brewing within a prefecture. The aim was to make them absorb things that they haven't learned in class and what they are already acknowledged to make as a combination at the real production workplace.  "The workplace has really become a place for study" and students. The Liquor companies have embraced to the students that "passionate about students is encouraging the Sake" and everyone is welcome.

In helping of making the Sake at the Department of fermented food production and manufacturing experts was to train third-year student in fermented foods Department, which was established in 2006 and started fiscal year in the same family from 2008, the Third Year students learned the basics of Miso and Sake fermentation which is cooperated with the company to build a soy sauce brewery for around three weeks, waited for its result as it was a "ground training" that they needed to work on it, so far, there were about 50 people who came to be trained from inside and  outside the prefecture.

This year's plan of training in the field of 10 people sake in currently, Mr. Ogura Kiyouhei (21) is working hard to help in the brewing in Bungoono beach, Shimaogata city which will be starting on 5th this month until it is three weeks. Ogura's master brewer (winter solstice) who made washed rice, stired and been left in the heavy lifting fermentation tank said "Passion that expressed by the sake master brewer can feel in only this workplace of sake brewing unless you'll never know do not know that we are getting such valuable experience," and smiled. Shima Hirobumi managing director of the master brewer beach (45) says, "Because the alcohol is building by hand, the increase in manpower will appreciate its taste, and it is also grateful to hear the opinions of students from the perspective of consumers. Professor, Director Mitsuaki Moriguchi from the same university mentioned that "Some students trying to master as brewers with around 50 productions in the prefecture. Flourishing sake's training for students is not only about learning you will also see an opportunity to create a lively workplace" he said.

Comment: It sounds great to have such nice experience of brewing Sake in Japan. I went once in one company they are doing alcohol and liquors production which is kind of famous in Japan as a school's program field study for 1 day. I think it would not be different from our Beppu University students 'experience that they needed to know some small process of making a tasty alcohol since it is a food culture for Japanese people. I tried to drink once or twice but then I could not help myself with even less percentage of alcohol so I got to  say good bye to them,  but  well for people who are strong enough I think Japanese sake is also one of the best preferable drinks, right?

Moritaka's powered up project called "essay presentation" was held at Forest High School Gymnasium in Kusu town. For each class of First and Second Year - students (from total number 284 people) there were 16 people as representatives to represent about their opinions on various social issues that they found from the newspaper.

Principal Higo Yoichi had a greeting to the attendants that, "this is your one-year closing of the project which has been working on powering up. I want everybody for both the representatives and listeners to learn about nature from this presentation" after the speech and presentation.

There were some class representatives with the presentation topic such as "How to keep on up-dating with mobile phone", "In Japan today", "the product's surrounding condition" issues,  and also how or in what way  we can deal with. Those issues were so touching by its contents, attracted the students to keep listening intently. 

6 Teachers and students came up with a clear creativity in reality and expressed the 5 items of examination results, such as "see the truth" that was entitled by the U.S. president, Obama he mentioned that, racial issues that he was telling about the story of himself that he faced to the discrimination and prejudice, such topic was selected to win year's prize as a pair of Yoshiaki Makoto cord.

Comment: Nowadays we need the next generation to continue our goal of dealing with global issues which require the cooperation and willingness from them. Teachers and parents also playing the main key to propel them and provide them a resource of learning by themselves I think they could do even better and go further than some professors. Making a presentation and do research from case study by brainstorming various topics on global level is one of the best choice to support students interest and know how to analyze problems that come with the rooted causes, therefore, they can correctly learn the way of solving and protecting and also the way of  living in this world valuably.

A Prefectural Library (Oita City, Hisashi Tate Masanori Kaneko) is "The library can be used at any business" aims to open another hotel that offers a free business consultation, policy and enhance business-related books learning to support interests of children, and respond by the use of entertainment, also to be a place for that salary man or self-employed workers can be one of user members, as the idea is to increase the number of users. On 28th was the first day of business support as well, they opened "the kick-off seminar for residents."

The library collection (about 100 million copies) about accounting, and entrepreneurship, and books on corporate management, and many magazines, "If you search in areas such as business management and practice, in units of 100-related book results will be found ." (library's). Newspaper articles and case study of law have also established as searchable database for patents and to be used on other PCs.

Collection of books related to the priority of the County where the books taken at the "get to know the nationality! Corner Information", there are many books available to agriculture and environment-related business which reflecting the difficult economic conditions recently have also boosted employment-related loans. Tatsukawa Yoshimi, one of users came to consult with librarian that in charge of the investigation, "people who know that the resources are available for business, will often borrow them," he said. 

The "kick-off seminar" which aimed to the citizen use of library was opened on January 28 from 1:30 and talk about the law library to help the users take advantage of various business scenes. They also have a panel of professional diagnosis of entrepreneurship and small business owner by using the library.

Comment: Wow! That's great it does help people to find a job and creating business owners with easy ways. Just come to the library and then people have new ideas of business occupational path which is faster and safer than being at home or go to the back without any knowledge. I think the government should implement this to local communities around the country for some people who cannot receive business information directly so they can have equal or more chance to have their own business.

Three elementary schools in Hase city are to be closed down at the end of Inukai Bungoono City (Principal Kazumi Yonemitsu) on 21st, it was held at the school closing ceremony. Children, parents, alumni and more than 200 people attended and frugal farewell to school.

The school has a history from the Meiji era more than 120 years. While changing the name of the municipal mergers, Nagaya City since 2005.Due to a small area and decreasing in number of children the school needed to take off some classes mixed between High and Junior together starting from April.  

At the ceremony, the Mayor of the town, Hashimoto Yuusuke "I have closed down and feel missing the old days, I want to cherish the memories", City Education Committee Chairman Maki Kimi said "I want to thank everyone for understanding beyond the school closing and our deep thoughts" and then greeting from Anami Hisayoshi Konagaya merger chairman, a regional cooperation in the ceremony was closed down, thanks to school officials,  Harayama Hideharu, PTA president said "I want to watch the kids in the future", the principal Yonemitsu also gave a greeting to children "I want to share your thoughts and mourn over you."

Then, the representative from 6th grade, Abe Itsuka  (12)  shared that " All 12 class mates are close together, always seeing each other at school. And that would be a memorial thing for me that taken from this school, and I will always remember it". The Attendants sang the school song and  all tears came out while singing. After this, the unveiling of the monument by their children's operetta, lion dance, Kagura attractions, and had memorable speeches by alumni, Shibuya Seizi, the chairman of the school closing Commemoration Committee, "I strongly opposed the school closing will flow in the world. It was also a grand ceremony during the loneliness of everyone," he said.

Comment: I've never faced that situation in my pass though my school is located in a very small city but the number of children always exceed. It is sad to know that the place that everyone used to be there in class together from Monday until Friday, almost one week that we spent time with those people who we call class mates will not be meeting each other like before. I also wish for the best that there would be no school closing anymore, children need to adapt themselves to live with other and if it often happened to one person it would be so hard for adapting to suit with changing environment that they need to move away from place to the next place.

Bangkok capital of Thailand "Thailand Creative & Design Center" exhibition being held in Beppu Bamboo "follows the legendary craftsmanship Beppu Bamboo in Japan", and has attracted local attention. It was first held with a great cooperation in Beppu; with a highly detailed design skill and have interest in Beppu's Bamboo it was as high as it could bring many people to visit every day.

Since January 27th was an opening day in that week, the architectural design, it had centered people more than expected around 1500 visitors crafts people. In the ceremony there was gathered media and many local TV stations and magazines came to broadcast. The Thai government had learned and understood Japanese culture from bamboo design in Beppu, and also clutched the development of craft items; as the cost of the exhibit is all borne by the government in order to bring out the charm of the work produced by a special set of music played at the venue and exhibition.

According to the Traditional Industry Center Bamboo, Beppu's Bamboo in overseas exhibitions, traditional bamboo work, and culture gave an opinion on it that this first even of comprehensive introduction to the indigenous knowledge was implemented a lot within a long period of three-months.

Some Hall Officials also attended the ceremony, the exhibition producer, Tetsuya Abe,  (51) said "Thai people are always eager to learn how to create such products 』that was surprised me with the high level of interest in Beppu Bamboo."

Comment: Thai people, we all also have our own handicraft products with high quality level. It is nice to hear that my country is taking significantly to promote the indigenous technology in overseas too. And to Beppu it is also a good event that brings about a specialty in local community because seems like we forgot out rooted culture. This would be a reminding for us that we should be awareness of and remember what we have and the 'know how' which means knowing how to implement resources in our hands to be used for everyone in the city and add new value in it.

Oita aimed at creating a new tourist attraction of "The First, Tsurizumu Summit" in  Beppu City, Oita Tourism - transfer new discoveries" (joint press Oita) on November 19th that was held in Suginoi Hotel, Beppu. The Executive committee was formed and organized by Oita Tourism; mainly about people working in tourist areas around the prefecture building attended by 500 people.

At the symposium, "Tourism contest" entitled prefecture centerpiece of efforts to build its tourism activities utilizing to local resources which represented of the six regions. "To discover the charm of the town in other places, realize『 Female 』important perspective as the key to the success and appeal". As an attraction, there were 18 specialty and other kind of arranged food for sale came all over the municipalities for "Food Show" in which the food is served in the region, the venue boasts food, which brought up the atmosphere of excitement in the Council by food from each region.

In addition, each municipal tourism travel outside the prefecture and the media and PR companies of Trade Fair (business meetings) were also held on the same day.
The governor also rushed to the venue, Katsusada Hirose said , "Tourism (promotion) and I felt it was important to the people. I want to send a lot of local information" and participants were encouraged.

Oita "delicious," as the superb taste of Oita, the food show and main event from the cities such as Usa and Nakatsu, Kunisaki City, presented octopus rice, cheese from Yufu, people were enjoying in the hall that was decorated in the local style of the bustling city attraction.
A full plate of fried noodles cooked with a Committee to revive yakisoba noodles in "Hita", President Akihiko Yoshida (53) says "a little, I'll know the tenacity of Hita."

Trade fair also held simultaneously to promote travel and tourism resources in Fukuoka Prefecture. Participants also enjoyed walking and the city of Beppu Tour of Food & Beverage store at night.

Comment: I love food show!! I mean not intend to eat for free but I think it is a really creative way to know each other culture by food, 'food culture' from different region is attractive and makes you feel excited also to get to know new kind of dishes in several places. For me, in my country we also have food show but not as much as Japanese food show they are more official and seem like more corporative with other cities social institutions. Well, I am wondering if international students from my university can bring our home country food to be arranged in the food show or not? That would be such nice experience for Japanese people to learn different culture also.

Beppu City Council of foreign tourists (Chairman Kai Kenichi) has opened a new website in English called "Slow Trip Japan at Beppu" to provide information for foreign individual travelers (FIT). The charges for meals and accommodation will be provided to enhance the information required by FIT which makes appeal to the concept of "BEPPU is easy to find".

Our accommodation that is currently in 15 locations with price rage of 3 categories which are Luxury, standard, cheap for the user to narrow the budget, the room style,  Tatami or whether Western-style with  large bath or hot springs or a chartered or yukata - you can check the conditions and details and  can also book from the site, since one opened in mid-March, a total of 40 had to apply for a night. Comment: Actually I thought this news would be about tourist in Beppu, but it is kind of leading to the social issues as well, but to be honest it does interested me anyhow, I think it is also significant to know what's going on nowadays in my city. Immigration, as Beppu is full of International students that maybe want to come here to settle down their life after completing the educational purpose must want to be as a part of the city and be treated well. I think Japanese immigration system of land owner and property is quite hard for even its citizen to live and survive until every month of house rent, therefore, talking about the right of foreigners the chance become really rare for them, but as I also expect to work and live in Japan for several years I hope that there could be some corporations that come and take responsibility on this.

　 Let's Learn the local nature through  "Nakatsu Yabakei Science Study" of Nakatsu South High School (Kobayashi Keiko, the principal with 116 students),   The Science Study called " Yabakei" had decided to be established and set as one of school's field which the area of Nakatsu City, yamagoku river, will be mainly focused for research.  The Student can learn from living creatures in that area and learn the culture which is variety from place to place.  Also, the program is aiming to enhance the abilities of each student to take pride in the region. For the students who are in 2nd Year will need to chose the subjects and is going to start this April. 

       Since it has been 8 years already that the course has taken as the foundation for the school's science department, and been called as "Firefly class" because it is all about studying ecology and breeding methods to protect the fireflies in the region and there was a training conducted at a primary school in Shiroi City. Ono Toshiaki, vice-principal emphasized his target, "To teach the juniors in their own words, applying to acquirement of self-confidence and communication skills together, unless keep acting in club activities will be just a waste," at the opening of Yabakei assemble.
The recent years, the firefly's class leaded by Hiroko Nakayama had done research on salamanders, and plans to implement the three pillars of Yamagoku River. The class had done the research and training teachers of science, the salamander is a vice principal in charge of the salamander and Ono had been a teacher during the student life.

        Miss Nakayama said, "is a treasure trove of materials of the field Yabakei, to know their surroundings, it brings up grateful heart." Ono vice principal, "because it is blessed by nature. Love in the future, are expecting the birth of a human resources so that local environment leader.' He said.

Comment: It is impressive that they are encouraging students to learn things around themselves as human cannot live with well-being if without nature. I used to hate the science study before, but I now I just realized that it has importance that I have been taken for granted for several years. And teachers are playing a key role to propel the students to do research and find what field they want to go for. At least it is a good sign that we have a bright future that human can live with nature peacefully by this firefly group.
