“The change of bird – parents nursery, wakuwaku – I like living creature so much”

         Hiroshima, Asa zoo, in May the parrot (Macaw)’s baby bird rate is changed because on of the bird’s parents has left their own baby even they gave birth and do duties as parents to baby but they don’t  feed to the baby. Then, the new born baby died as a result. Last year, there was also the same case happened, during the changing period the zoo worker named Nizuno Minori –san, with her kindness, helped the baby grown until nowadays it was  such a big burden left on her. The procedure is complicated, to make the appropriated temperature for the new born baby it should be around 70 – 75 percent or around 35 -38 degree of heating. And the feeding time which has to be careful, it takes 2 hours after the baby woke up, and if we change it to feed with a spoon the baby won’t eat your food because it feels strange, feeding to bird that’s also the problem for her.

         She has kept this duty with the feeling empathy to the baby, as the time passed by until July, the baby began to eat by itself and were brought back to the zoo.  Macaw is a smart animal with its good brain, it will talk all the time and also friendly to human. Now, maybe this baby Macaw thinks that Minori –san who’s done the difficult thing of growing bird instead of the real parents is the mother of its own. 

Comment:    Macaw is really smart animal, I absolutely agree. I never had Macaw as my pet but I had other kind of bird which it can speak with its loud voice and says hello to everyone walks pass by my house. Growing birds by human like Minori – san is so hard to achieve but I think she put her love into this baby that’s why the baby thinks that she’s mom.
